China’s largest known coal reserves lie at the foot of Genghis Khan’s memorial site in the remote desert region between the provinces of Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia, some 1000km west of Beijing. Currently over 120 million tons of coal are produced per year from 17 mines operated in the region by the Shen Hua Shendong Coal Company. Over the next 5 years, plans are in place to increase output to around 200 million tons per annum, making this one of the most productive coal regions in the world.
To keep this much coal moving from longwalls to washing plants and onto transport requires hundreds of conveyors, more than 400 Baldor CST™ drives, a comprehensive integrated network of control, monitoring and maintenance systems, and a permanent on-site team of Baldor engineers and technicians that ensures an impressive CST availability rate above 98%. The Baldor CST™ Drive has become the reliable work-horse of the 21st century that delivers China’s wealth to its people.
“The Baldor Professional Service Contract has been very successful, and the 24/7 service has kept the average availability at better than 98% for the past 3 years on all 250 CSTs. We are pleased to sign the new service contract to add another 112 CSTs as they come on-line.” Mr. Hu Jean – Chief Engineer SD Mines.
